STEM combines natural sciences, mathematics and statistics (F05), information and communication technologies (F06), and engineering, manufacturing and construction (F07), following the ISCED-F 2013 field classification.
ICT-specialist statistics are derived from the EU Labour Force Survey. Eurostat defines ICT specialists as workers for whom ICT constitutes the main part of their job.
This section uses Eurostat's Human Resources in Science and Technology statistics to show the gender balance among employed scientists and engineers.
Automatic updates. This monitor queries Eurostat's public Statistics API when the page loads and uses the latest available observations. Different indicators can have different latest reference years.
STEM definition. For education indicators, STEM is calculated as ISCED-F 2013 fields F05 + F06 + F07. The education indicators cover tertiary education (ISCED levels 5–8).
